چکیده
Data are presented which indicate that variation in temperature is associated with only slight variation in the speed of the radiochemical inactivation of pepsin in dilute solution.

THE EFFECT OF RADIOACTIVE RADIATIONS AND X-RAYS ON ENZYMES. IV. TI~E EFFECT OF RADIATIONS FROM RADrUM E~fANATION ON SOLUTIONS OF INV~RTASE. BY RAYMOND G. HUSSEY AND
In our studies 1, 2 concerned with the effect of the radiations (beta and gamma) from radium emanation, in equilibrium with its radioactive products, on enzymes in solution we have observed that trypsin and pepsin are inactivated. I t has been possible to follow the course of these radiochemical reactions quantitatively; a'nd, under the conditions of experiment employed by us, we have found tha...

At the present time our information concerning the changes effected in living matter by x-rays and the radiations from radio-active substances is confined chiefly to the characteristic exudative phenomena noted in animal tissues, and the altered structural character of cells observed following exposures to these radiations. We have but little data bearing on the underlying physiological process...
متن کاملLook Different: Effect of Radiation Hormesis on the Survival Rate of Immunosuppressed Mice
Background: Hormesis is defined as the bio-positive response of something which is bio-negative in high doses. In the present study, the effect of radiation hormesis was evaluated on the survival rate of immunosuppressed BALB/c mice by Cyclosporine A.Materials and Methods: We used 75 consanguine, male, BALB/c mice in this experiment. The first group received Technetium-99m (3700Bq) and the seco...
متن کاملThe assessment of function, histopathological changes, and oxidative stress in liver tissue due to ionizing and non-ionizing radiations
Background: Compared to past decades, humans are exposed to rapidly increasing levels of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiations (RF-EMF). Despite numerous studies, the biological effects of human exposure to different levels of RF-EMF are not fully understood, yet. This study aimed to evaluate the bioeffects of exposure to "900/1800 MHz" and “2.4 GHz" RF-EMFs, and x-rays as well as their pot...
متن کاملAn in-vivo study on the energy dependence of X-ray biological effectiveness
Background: The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has attributed the same relative risk for X and gamma radiations of all energies. Several studies have proven that the biological effect of low energy photon is more than that of higher ones. The assessment of risks is important due to the wide use of low energy X-rays for mammography screening and other diagnostic appli...
